I’m so excited for this week’s project! I’m building a sliding trash can drawer. We’ve had our trashcan on the end of our island and it’s just to crammed now. So, I decided to convert one of our Nieu kitchen cabinets to a trash slider!
First step is to make sure I have this sliding kit centered and at the correct depth for my Nieu Cabinet door. Once I had it in the right spot, I’ll secure it to the base of the cabinet with the screws that came with the kit.
I love this design because it fits two trash cans – so I can do trash and recycling! I also love the little wooden bin in the back to store trash bags.
We’ve never had a recycling bin in our house so I would have to run outside every single day to put our recyclables in the recycling bin. This will be so nice!
This is the exact trash slider kit I’m using, but Lowes has so many options – basically an option for every cabinet size!
Then, I installed the hardware to mount the door. I needed to make sure i had a 1/8″ gap on all 4 sides.
What’s nice about this kit, is I don’t have to re-drill anything. All of the openings are exes so I can just adjust it without making new holes.
I’m obsessed with the final product!
