Okay our yard is literally transforming and it doesn’t look anything like it did when we first moved in and I’m LOVING it. Over the last couple of weeks we built a trash shed and a fence separating our lawn from our pool. This week, we decided to give our back wall a little glow up. So, we built a DIY AC surround.

The back of my house was pretty plain and simple. So I had the idea to build this surround and add some vines to grow up the wall. These two windows were the last two that needed to be painted black so we wanted to that an then also install some eave lights and some landscape lights down below.

DIY AC Surround
We started with the AC surround. For this, we set our 4×4’s where we wanted them around the four corners of our unit. (In order to reach the AC for servicing, we decided not to secure this surround to the ground. It rests on the ground below so we can pick it up to move it whenever we need to!) We secured brackets to our 4×4’s and then installed 2×4’s to create the frame.

Then, we used our framing nailer to secure the pickets to the frame.

*Quick note – if you want to do this yourself, make sure to check your AC manual for spacing requirements.
Painting Our Windows
Every other window in our house has had it’s frame spray painted black. These last two windows needed to be painted! We taped and masked our windows and painted! We could have masked the entire back wall but that would have been a lot for two small windows. So we ended up just using tape and a cardboard box. We did have to do some touch ups from overspray but they were easy!

Eave Lights & Landscaping
Then, Jake installed these eave lights that are the best. I did some landscaping and used these vine clips to attach jasmine vines to the back wall. I also installed these landscaping lights!

And there you have it! Doesn’t this look amazing!?
