We're so glad you're here! We've been transforming spaces together for the past five years and slowly renovating our own 1950's home. Join us as we create a home we love!

Hi, we're Jake and Sarah

This week we are doing a blue office makeover in Florida!

This office space is right off from the living in this room. There isn’t a door to close it off, so anyone can see anything going on in there.

The goal here is to create a custom “built in” look with lots of storage, but on a budget! We plan to use bookcases from Ikea and shelving from Amazon to achieve this. We will cut out of the baseboards so the book shelves can sit flush to the wall. The entire Ikea built in was $180. Here’s the cost breakdown:

  • Ikea Billy Bookcases $78
  • MDF 75 cents per foot ($43)
  • paint $59 (we only used half)

We are building an accent wall with vertical posts and painting it dark blue with our paint sprayer. This will bring tons of contrast into the room.

Unfortunately we forgot to order cord concealers ahead of time so we didn’t have those at the final reveal. But usually we would use these and paint them the same color as the accent wall so it’s almost like they aren’t even there!

Here is everything we are using for this blue office makeover project.

sconces
paint (interior standard Surf Camp)
bookcases (“built-ins”)
bookshelves
rug
faux plant
fan
baskets
plant stand
wall clock
paint sprayer
cord concealer
wainscotting calculator

Here’s my tool guide with all my favorite tools I use for my DIY projects and room makeovers!
