We're so glad you're here! We've been transforming spaces together for the past five years and slowly renovating our own 1950's home. Join us as we create a home we love!

Hi, we're Jake and Sarah

Last week we discovered something no homeowner wants to find…a pool leak. We’ve known for awhile that our water levels seemed to go down too fast and we’re constantly having to fill it up. We’ve been putting off looking into it further…until last week. When Jake was crawling under the house to hook up our pop-up vent, he noticed an entire section of dirt under the house (about a third) was muddy. He literally started sinking as he was crawling under there! Not good.

You can see a little of the mud here, but it’s mostly under the house.

Can you see the cracks in the concrete under the coping here? We have fractures like this all over the pool’s edge. I’m honestly nervous to find out what this is going to cost us. Our pool plumbing is underneath this concrete, so I have a feeling we are going to have to rip this up in order to get to the problem.

In the meantime, we have to continue adding water because if air gets in the system it can ruin the pump. Until we can afford a major repair, we got a couple things from Amazon to try: a dye kit to see where the leaks are and some pool putty to try to seal the gaps. We likely need to pay for a pool inspection soon to get the full picture.

We love having a pool, so filling it up is definitely off the table. It was built in 1970, so it’s over 50 years old (we actually saw the original invoice to build it- only $5,000 with a $25 deposit!) We knew it would require some serious maintenance/repairs when we bought the house. We’re hoping to find a resolution soon!
