We're so glad you're here! We've been transforming spaces together for the past five years and slowly renovating our own 1950's home. Join us as we create a home we love!

Hi, we're Jake and Sarah

Having a baby is life changing in so many ways. With thousands of products out there for this newborn phase. I’ve found my favorites. Here are my newborn essentials!

My favorite item – Joolz Day+

This has to be my most favorite baby item we have! I love the look and feel of this stroller. Apparently this brand is more popular in Europe than in the US, and I’m here to spread the word about it. I get why it’s an award-winning stroller. It converts into a toddler stroller, is so easy to fold up and store, and just has a classy design. We also have the travel stroller, the Joolz Aer+ with carrycot (which we keep in the car and will take on flights), but the Day+ is what we use for our daily walks around the neighborhood.

Bassinet

We’ve used this since day 1, and every day since! He’s just now about to grow out of it at almost 5 months. It’s lightweight, easy to move around the house, and gently bounces with his movements. I love that it doesn’t take up too much space in our small bedroom, and I love the sleek design!

Baby Bjorn Bouncer Bliss

I don’t know what I’d do without this. We use this bouncer multiple times a day. I like putting Charlie in here on the highest setting after he nurses to help him sit up while he digests. Usually at dinnertime, Jake or I will have one foot slightly tapping the bouncer so Charlie can hang out with us while we eat. I’d recommend this to any new parent!

Dagne Dover Changing Kit

I was on the hunt to find a changing pad that actually looked sleek and cool. Finally, I came across this changing kit from Dagne Dover. I had never seen this brand in person before, but I took a chance and put it on my registry. It did not disappoint! The design is great, and it cleans up really easily. We’ve been using it at home until our changing table arrives, but it also fits right in my backpack.

Taupe Beige Adidas Backpack

Speaking of backpacks, I’d be using this whether I had a baby or not! I needed a diaper bag… but I didn’t necessarily want to buy a “diaper bag.” I love this mesh daypack line from Adidas. It fits an extra outfit for Charlie, his changing kit, my Stanley, and all the things I’d normally bring in my purse. I love how easy it is to clean too!

Snuggle Me Organic Infant Lounger

Another good spot to set Charlie down. The organic cover comes in lots of cute colors and is easily removable and machine-washable.

Baby Bjorn Carrier Harmony

We love this four-way carrier (newborn, facing in, facing out, and on the back) and that it will grow with Charlie for years to come (recommended for 7-40 pounds). We have the color cream. This is also fully machine washable! Out of all the carriers I looked at, this was the most versatile and had the longest lifespan.

Solly Baby Wrap

For a more stretchy, lightweight carrier, I also love the Solly Baby Wrap. It feels like a stretchy T-shirt! I have this in the color flax and black, and also the “Poppy” pattern (it’s so cute!) You can use my code sarahellen10 for 10% off your purchase!

Dreamland Baby SleepSack

You can talk to your doctor about using weighted sleepers, but this made a huge difference for us! Charlie went from waking 5-6 times per night to 2-3 once we introduced it. They have swaddle options or hands-free sleepers, like the one shown here!

Here are a few other things we use all the time from Amazon- 100% cotton burp cloths, a baby bath insert for the sink or bathtub, an electric nail file (who wants to use nail clippers on such tiny, delicate nails?), and a wipe warmer (I know, extra. But I’d rather not jolt him awake in the middle of the night with cold wipes!) We use Coterie diapers and wipes and Hello Bello diapers and wipes after seeing that they are EWG verified (the best possible rating for product safety/being nontoxic!) and totally fragrance-free. They don’t have that baby-powder smell like other brands!

I hope this helps you navigate all the things while prepping for your little one! Thanks for checking out my newborn essentials.
